Mister Roberts tells the story of the USS Reluctant and her Navy crew. The ship carries cargo along a forgotten path in the South Pacific Ocean during World War II. Beyond this waterway, the real battles of the war are passing them by. It is the job of the easy going Lieutenant Roberts to keep the bleary-eyed crew happy while doing the mundane tasks of war, and to keep them away from their half-crazed Captain.

This is a poignant comedy featuring a clever and delightful script. Mister Roberts combines humor, honesty, and drama very well, giving the audience a real sense of the camaraderie serving onboard the ship. We also see how the human spirit can triumph under difficult conditions.
